Celebrity Cruises CEO Resigns
(1:45 p.m. EDT) -- Dan Hanrahan, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises for the past 13 years, unexpectedly resigned today to pursue "an exciting new opportunity."

The "exciting new opportunity" is outside of the cruise industry. As of August 6, 2012 Hanrahan will be the new president and CEO for Regis Corporation, the hair care company that operates the Supercuts franchise.

Hanrahan has been the force behind the line's five Solstice-class ships, as well as the solsticization project, which is bringing modern and popular venues from the line's newest ships onto its older Millennium-class vessels. He also repositioned the brand around the concept of "Modern Luxury."

On Cruise Critic's Celebrity forum speculation is running rampant on who will replace him. Join in the conversation there.

Hanrahan's last day will be July 31, 2012.
