Egypt Unrest: Cruise Ship to Skip Cairo Visit

February 4, 2012
thomson-celebration (4 p.m. EST) -- Thomson Cruises has announced Thomson Celebration will skip a call on Egypt due to riots and tourist kidnappings in the area, according to a report from Captain Greybeard (John Honeywell).

The ship's current Red Sea Magic sailing includes a call on the port of Sokhna, scheduled for Monday, offering trips to Cairo and St. Catherine's Monastery. Honeywell says the line has scrapped the call and related tour offerings in exchange for another call on Eilat in Israel.

We're awaiting confirmation from Thomson Cruises and will update you as more information becomes available.
