| HAL Bans Smoking in Dining Areas |
While the non-smoking cruise ship trend is, to be honest, not a trend at all -- with only one mass market vessel, Carnival's Paradise, pledging to maintain a complete onboard policy prohibiting the practice -- Holland America has at least and at last tentatively weighed in. Beginning February 1, smoking will be prohibited from all dining areas and the enclosed parts of the Lido cafe.
The only exception: implantation of the policy will be delayed for Amsterdam, which is in the midst of its world cruise. The no-smoking-in-dining-rooms-rules will go into effect there on April 30.
Alternative restaurants are not impacted as they have been non-smoking since their launch. | |
