| Saga Confirms New Ship Will Join in 2012 |
|
(5 a.m. EST) -- Over-50's line Saga Holidays has confirmed that it has indeed purchased a new ship, as we reported last week.
The company has acquired the 37,301-ton, 752-passenger Bleu de France which will enter service in March 2012, after a multi-million pound refit starting in November 2011.
In a statement, Saga has said: "We are now confirming that we have a new addition to the Saga fleet of cruise ships. The acquisition is in response to the continued and growing popularity of the Saga cruise experience."
The 28-year-old ship is currently sailing for Croisieres de France (CDF), following previous incarnations as Hapag Lloyd's Europa, SuperStar Europe and SuperStar Aries for Star Cruises and Holiday Dream for Pullmantur. Both Pullmantur and CDF are subsidiaries of Royal Caribbean.
No further information has been given on the ship, including a possible name. Any guesses?
