Celebrity-Century-Rudder-Repairs
Update, 11:20 a.m. EDT: Celebrity has issued another statement on Celebrity Century's repairs. The line has said that the dry dock work has continued to progress as planned, and the rudders were reinstalled on Saturday night. Celebrity also said it is currently on schedule to complete the repairs in time for tomorrow's sailing from Barcelona.

(Update, October 21) -- Celebrity has issued an updated statement on Century's ongoing repairs, which "continue to progress as planned. The ship arrived at the Chantier Naval de Marseille shipyard in Marseilles early this morning and the dry dock process was immediately started. We continue to be pleased and satisfied with the progress that has been made. We continue to be on schedule to complete the repairs in time for Celebrity Century's next scheduled sailing from Barcelona on October 25.

"Nevertheless, we would like to reassure our guests that should anything unforeseen occur, and the ship's departure from Barcelona is delayed, Celebrity Cruises will provide guests with accommodations in Barcelona, as well as a credit to cover any incidental costs."

Rudder Damage Cancels Celebrity Century Cruise

(October 20, 4:30 p.m. EDT) -- Celebrity Century's damaged rudders should be repaired in time for the ship's next scheduled cruise, a transatlantic voyage set to leave from Barcelona on Monday, October 25. Celebrity Cruises, however, cannot guarantee an on-time departure at this time.

According to a company statement released earlier today, "Repairs to Celebrity Century's rudders continue to progress as planned. Divers from the United States, Canada and France have completed the planned work in preparation for entering the drydock. Tug boats are scheduled to shift Celebrity Century from the pier to dry dock at 2 a.m. The Chantier Naval de Marseille shipyard in Marseilles has been preparing for Celebrity Century's arrival and will begin repairs as soon as ship is dry tomorrow morning.

"We continue to be pleased and satisfied with the progress that has been made. We are on schedule to complete the repairs in time for Celebrity Century's next scheduled sailing from Barcelona on October 25. Nevertheless, we would like to reassure our guests that should anything unforeseen occur, and the ship's departure from Barcelona is delayed, Celebrity Cruises will provide guests with accommodations in Barcelona, as well as a credit to cover any incidental costs."
