Tweet (1:46 p.m. EDT) -- Back in July, we announced a contest in partnership with Royal Caribbean in the U.K., offering a chance to win a cruise for two to the Canary Islands on Independence of the Seas.
All you had to do was submit a cruise review to Cruise Critic -- any review, any ship -- and the winner would be picked at random.
So, we're delighted to announce that the first name out of the hat was Kay Laing from Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Kay will be heading with her husband to the Canaries in November for a spot of pre-Christmas sunshine.
A veteran of seven cruises, Kay, who works for the North Yorkshire Police, told us Friday, "I find the reviews on Cruise Critic really helpful before I go on a cruise, so I thought that writing one myself might help someone else. We're genuinely thrilled to have won. I've never sailed with Royal Caribbean, and I am really looking forward to it."
Kay also let us know that she and her husband have "become regular cruisers over the last four years -- and we're hooked."
