Cruise Critic has teamed up with Royal Caribbean in the U.K. to offer this prize of a 10- or 11-night cruise for two, roundtrip from Southampton. And what's exciting is that this isn't even a writing competition in the traditional sense. We're not here to judge your literary skills. You simply have to be a U.K. resident over 21, and write a review that passes the usual Cruise Critic criteria for acceptance. After that, it's the luck of the draw!
Here's a bit more on how the competition works:
Review any cruise that you've been on (and yes, you do have to have sailed on something) since January 1, 2008.
The prize may be aboard a Royal Caribbean ship, but your review can be of any ship (a long list will pop up once you start writing your review, which includes pretty well every cruise vessel afloat today).
You must submit your review by August 16, 2010. Provided it meets our standards for publication, your entry will go into the prize draw.
In early September we'll select our winner at random from all eligible entries. First one out of the hat gets the cruise on Independence of the Seas, the largest ship to sail from the U.K., calling at sun-drenched islands like Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Madeira, as well as Vigo and La Coruña on the Spanish mainland.
Independence of the Seas features a rock climbing wall, FlowRider surf simulator, ice skating rink, a boulevard packed with bars, restaurants and shops, over 12 bars and a huge range of facilities for children and teenagers.
So what do you need to include? There's a clear set of guidelines here; essentially, we're looking for a balanced but personal view of everything about your trip: travel to and from your embarkation port, your cabin, dining, entertainment, shore excursions, service overall and even disembarkation. An eye for detail helps!
Once your review has been submitted and approved, it will appear on the Cruise Critic Web site.
Enter here (and please take a look at the rules). And good luck!
