The famed design duo starred in the reality show, which pits celebrities against each other in the Australian jungle as they take on squirmy tasks in exchange for food, are remembered by many for their antics in the rainforest. Now, they are set to participate in Southampton's Celebrity SunWalk, a massive event organised by breast cancer charity Walk the Walk, which is supported by Celebrity Cruises. Walk the Walk participants wear colorful bras during the charity events.
The SunWalk marks the launch of the line's newest ship, Celebrity Eclipse, which will be named in Southampton later that day. Celebrity fans may remember that Walk the Walk's founder, Nina Barough, is godmother to Celebrity Equinox, which was named in Southampton in 2009.
As well as walking for charity, Colin and Justin are going to be the official emcees for a day of celebration in Southampton's Mayflower Park, introducing music and entertainment acts as well announcing raffle and competition prizes live from the stage, with the new Celebrity Eclipse as the backdrop.
This is not the first time a cruise line has involved the local community in a launch to this extent; Celebrity Cruises' sister company, Royal Caribbean, threw a lavish, seven-day party in Mayflower Park in April 2008 for the naming of the 160,000-ton Independence of the Seas (which, incidentally, arrives in Southampton for its 2010 season on April 25). Celebs at that event included the band Scouting For Girls, Olympic medallist Sir Steve Redgrave and other TV and sporting stars including Steve Cram, Steve Rider and Jimmy Tarbuck.
Although we don't know yet which other famous names will be present on April 24, or, indeed, who will name the ship, a fun-packed, colourful day is in the cards. Colin commented in a press statement: "We'll certainly be on the lookout for the best dressed walkers, so all you girls and guys should make sure your bras really impress. We want glitz, glamour and sparkle -- these events are a celebration of life so there is no room for understatement."
Participants in the SunWalk can opt to do either 5km or 10km and spots are still available. Some of the Cruise Critic team will be walking -- come and join us!
