Update, 12:45 p.m. EDT: It's official -- Disney has announced that it will offer a four-month series of seven-night Alaskan cruises on Disney Wonder in summer 2011. Ports include Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway. Stay tuned for more details!
(10:52 a.m. EDT) -- Is Disney Cruise Line headed to Alaska? According to the Vancouver Sun, the family-friendly line is expected to announce the big news this morning. The report indicates that the line will sail departures from Vancouver.
Rumors of such a move began circulating on Twitter yesterday. @CruiseGuy's self-professed "unofficial" announcement puts Disney Magic in the region as of 2011. (Earlier this year, we reported that Disney would not be sailing Alaska in 2010 after withdrawing its application for a permit to cruise Glacier Bay.)
Disney Cruise Line spokesman George Parker wasn't able to confirm the rumor or share additional details -- but he did say that an announcement about itineraries is going to be made today at 9 a.m. Pacific time at the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center, across from Disneyland.
Still, things are looking good for Mickey "Moose." We actually called for spokeswoman Christi Erwin Donnan who could not come to the phone because she's in ... Vancouver.
