(6:47 p.m. EDT) -- A woman has been declared missing on Holland America's Zaandam, currently on a seven-night cruise in Alaska. According to a statement from Holland America, the ship was thoroughly searched and the woman was not found onboard. The Coast Guard is searching the waters between Douglas Island and Glacier Bay National Park, where the ship sailed last night.
The woman's last contact with ship's staff was at 12:30 a.m., and she was reported missing by her stateroom companion at 9 a.m. local time on Monday. Holland America notified the authorities in accordance with marine regulations. Coast Guard aircraft and rescue boats are now searching Stephens Passage, Lynn Canal and Icy Strait for the missing woman. The woman's family has been notified that she is missing and believed to have fallen overboard.
