Fires in La Palma; No Cruise Impact
La Palma Wildfires raging on the Canary Island of La Palma have forced many residents to evacuate their homes and many tourists have been left stranded.

The fires, which started on Friday night, haven't yet impacted cruise calls -- Fred. Olsen's Black Prince is due in the port on August 13 during its 14-night Canary Islands cruise. At this point, no changes to itineraries have been announced.

La Palma generally receives less cruise ship traffic than the more popular islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

The U.K.'s Telegraph is reporting that the flames have devastated almost 5,000 acres of forest and there were fears the fire could spread to the Roque de Los Muchachos observatory housing the world's largest telescope.

We'll keep you posted.
