Norwegian Epic Floats in France Today!

July 10, 2009
Norwegian Epic at Shipyard
Where's Cruise Critic? Cruise Critic Associate Editor Dan Askin is in Saint-Nazaire, France, at the STX shipyard where Norwegian Cruise Line's largest-ever ship -- Norwegian Epic -- is being built.

What's It All About? We'll be getting a tour of the under-construction ship today and witnessing the "float out," the next big milestone. When a ship takes to the water for the first time, it really becomes a ship!

What are we hoping to catch a glimpse of?

The sun deck, which will feature innovations including a water slide that cuts through the rock wall...
Public areas, including the ship's atrium and nighttime hot spots...
And maybe even its unique curved-wall cabins, though it is an active work site and we won't get to see everything!

Get Psyched: Images are starting to trickle in from the yard -- see new pictures here and join the conversation.

Stay Tuned: Watch Cruise Critic News this afternoon for a full report on the ship and the float out, live from France.
