Update: Flu on Emerald Princess Baltic Cruise

July 3, 2009
Emerald Princess (8 p.m. EDT) -- Flu cases continue to emerge on Emerald Princess' June 25 Baltic cruise. In addition to the 14 crewmembers confirmed with and being treated for H1N1 as of Monday, six more crewmembers and two passengers have developed flu-like symptoms and are also being treated with antiviral medication as a precaution.

Of the newly ill, four crewmembers and one passenger became sick earlier in the week and are completing isolation. The others displayed symptoms more recently (over the past three days) and are also in isolation.

A Princess Cruises spokeswoman tells us that no port calls have been missed thus far. However, Danish news site reports that Copenhagen could disallow passengers from debarking there when the ship ties up on Saturday evening. Emerald Princess is scheduled to overnight in Copenhagen before ending the 10-night voyage there on Sunday, July 5.

We'll keep you posted.
