Royal Princess Cruise Ship Arrives in Piraeus for Repairs
(6:30 p.m. EDT) -- Princess Cruises tells us that its Royal Princess arrived in Piraeus, Greece, today at 5 p.m. local time for repairs at a local shipyard.
Two of the ship's four engines were disabled last week in an engine room fire. As we already reported, Princess was forced to cancel Royal Princess' June 13 voyage, which was already underway, as well as its June 25 cruise due to the blaze and subsequent repair schedule.
At this point, the ship is expected to leave the yard in Piraeus on July 4 and arrive in Venice on July 7 on time for its next scheduled cruise.
