Carnival Cruise Lines' Two-Day Cabo San Lucas Stay is Not an Overnight
Carnival Elation Waterslide Carnival Elation's new itineraries to Cabo San Lucas have caused some confusion among travel agents and Carnival Cruise Lines fans. The five-nighter out of San Diego will indeed boast an industry exclusive -- two consecutive full days in Cabo -- but contrary to general expectations, the ship will not actually overnight in port.

Travelers excited about experiencing the Mexican nightlife in this Riviera resort town may be disappointed to learn that the ship will depart at 6 p.m. on the first day spent in Cabo and return at 7 a.m. on the second day. Passengers will not be allowed to overnight in port because Cabo is a tender port, and bad weather could prevent the ship from running tenders on the second day, effectively stranding any overnighters. The early departure means you won't even have time to have dinner in town -- unless you grab a taco to go. You will, however, be able to gamble in the ship's casino as it heads back out to sea for the night.

While they'll miss out on the nighttime activities, Elation passengers will have two full days to enjoy all of Cabo's daytime offerings without feeling rushed. Go deep-sea fishing one day, then play a round of golf the next. Or hit the shops for some retail therapy on the first day, and spend the second at the beach. And partiers won't miss the nightlife too much when they can liven things up with a few margaritas during daylight hours at spots like the Cabo Wabo Cantina, Carlos 'n' Charlie's and the Hard Rock Cafe.

What's your take on a two-night Cabo visit without an overnight? Vote in our poll.
