In the wake of raging brush fires in Melbourne, it is unclear whether Regent Seven Seas will cancel shore excursions for Seven Seas Voyager, due in port there tomorrow.
One day after Holland America Line was forced to cancel Rotterdam's Wildlife and Wineries shore excursions in Melbourne, the fires still pose a threat.
Burning for the past week and numbering at least 20, they have not reached most tourist areas, according to officials from Tourism Australia. But, parts of the Yarra Valley wine region and Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary have been impacted.
The Associated Press reported yesterday that a suspect, charged with setting one of the fires -- which killed at least 20 people near Churchill -- was taken into custody.
So far, the death toll totals more than 180 people, and more than 7,000 have been left homeless. Thousands of animals have also perished in the blazes.
Efforts are being made to contact representatives from Regent, as well as P&O Cruises and Princess Cruises, which also have ships due in Melbourne within the next week.
We'll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
