|Paul Gauguin Woos Romantics With 2010 South Pacific Itineraries|
| Honeymooners need not worry about the fate of the South Pacific-based Paul Gauguin. While current operator Regent Seven Seas Cruises is ending its long relationship with the luxury vessel in January 2010, new owner Paul Gauguin Cruises has just announced a slew of 2010 itineraries, which will keep the ship year-round in French Polynesia.|
The newly formed line will offer 38 7- to 15-night itineraries aboard the 332-passenger, 18,800-ton Paul Gauguin for 2010, featuring visits to Tahiti, the Society Islands, Tuamotus, the Cook Islands, Marquesas, Tonga, Fiji and New Zealand. Itineraries include:
Sixteen seven-night departures, including Tahiti and the Society Islands
Six 10-night and two 9-night voyages of Tuamotus and the Society Islands
Five 11-night Cook Islands adventures
Four 14-night sailings, featuring the Marquesas Islands
13- and 15-night sailings, visiting Fiji, Tonga and the Cook and Society Islands
Two 14-night cruises, featuring New Zealand, Tonga and the Cook and Society Islands
The line will also offer several special departures, including a sailing with Jean-Michel Cousteau (several with special youth programs), son of Jacques Cousteau, and a cruise with the new line's president, David A. Giersdorf.
Paul Gauguin was specially designed to cruise the shallow, coral-filled waters of the South Pacific, and it features island decor throughout. A 12-day dry-dock session this month will be used to make improvements, such as new upholstery and carpeting and the addition of 26 private balconies to existing staterooms. Since its debut, Paul Gauguin has oft been called one of the most romantic ships afloat; it's one of Cruise Critic's top choices for honeymoons -- and for vow renewals, as well.
