Hurricane Causes Minimal Damage to Grand Cayman

November 9, 2008
(7:30 a.m.) -- Hurricane Paloma, which roared ashore of Grand Cayman early Saturday morning, has caused minimal damage to the island, according to wire reports. Power has largely been restored, the airport has reopened and hotels and businesses have begun to operate.

Less sure is the status of damage to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, Grand Cayman's sister islands. These smaller islands took the brunt of winds and storm surge, the wire services reported.

No ships were scheduled to call at Grand Cayman Sunday. Carnival's Inspiration and Destiny are on target to visit on Monday.
