Celebrity's Half-Off Sale Heats Up Winter
If there's any upside at all to the current financial situation, it's the abundance of cruise deals that lines are offering to encourage nervous Americans to book. The latest promotion is a three-day sale by Celebrity, offering discounts on early winter cruises.

Book a January or February 2009 sailing with Celebrity Cruises from today through November 7, and the second guest in the cabin only pays half the cruise fare. The offer is valid on select sailings, including warm-weather getaways to the Caribbean and Panama Canal.

In the past, winter cruises to warm-weather destinations have been among the most popular cruises, often selling out in advance. The confluence of multiple Monday holidays, school breaks and a general desire to escape the cold make these sailings quite popular. It's a telling sign of the states of the economy and industry that Celebrity is attempting to drum up bookings only a few months prior to sailing.

While not the most generous or long-lasting sale, this one could definitely save you a few hundred bucks and might mean the difference between cruising or not this winter. It's also a good opportunity for travelers looking to upgrade from a mainstream line to see how the other half cruises on a premium line like Celebrity.
