Officials in the Florida Keys are so confident that Tropical Storm Fay will pass by without too much impact they're already issuing a press release saying visitors will be welcome back on Wednesday.
According to the announcement, the center of Tropical Storm Fay, which never did reach hurricane strength as had been predicted, crossed over Key West Monday at about 3 p.m. with sustained winds up to 40 miles per hour and with higher gusts.
The officials anticipate that cleanup will be completed by tomorrow and that as of Wednesday both the airport and the cruise port will be open for business. No ships are scheduled to visit Wednesday, but Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas is due in on Thursday and Carnival Imagination is scheduled for Friday. So far, they're both still planning to call at Key West.
