New Ships Visit St Thomas
If you think St. Thomas harbor is crowded already, prepare for more masses. Cruise ship calls at St. Thomas are increasing 20 percent between October and April, including visits from six new ships: Disney Magic, Carnival Victory, Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas, Holland America’s Amsterdam and Costa’s Atlantica. The more lightly-visited St. Croix is also expecting a jump -- 22 percent -- led by Celebrity Galaxy and Carnival’s Victory. Incidentally, the Carnival Victory offers cruisers a funky and different twist on a port visit -- the ship, which calls on Wednesdays, will stay in port until midnight so passengers can take advantage of Fredericksted’s fun, weekly “Harbor Night” festivities.
