So the mysterious Alaskan sighting of Renaissance's new CEO, Manfred Ursprunger, wasn't a mirage after all. Anything goes at Renaissance Cruises these days, which has installed the former Celebrity Cruises exec in the top post and is tinkering with more than onboard rules (children 2 and over are now welcome, as are smokers). He's turning his eye to new itineraries for the company's fleet of mid-sized liners and among the possibilities -- though nothing's been announced -- include traditional cruise destinations that Renaissance eschewed in the past few years. So line devotees could find themselves as easily doing Alaska, Bermuda or Canadian Maritimes leaf-peeping cruises as they would Renaissance's traditional South Pacific/European/Asian itineraries. We'll keep you posted.
