|Romance at Sea: Last-Minute U.K. Valentine's Deals|
|February 14 is just around the corner. If you're feeling the pressure to impress your loved one this year -- and the usual bunch of roses and box of chocolates just won't cut it -- it's not too late to sweep your amour away on a Valentine's cruise. And, get this: There are some last-minute (and this really is last minute -- you've got a day or so to make up your mind) bargains around. |
Kick off those winter blues and picture the scene -- you and your other half sitting up on deck, staring up at the stars as you listen to the sound of the ocean. Not bad for February hey? Plus, according to a survey by Royal Caribbean, a massive 80 percent of us feel more amorous at sea, and 79 percent like to pack some sexy lingerie for their trip on a cruise ship.
So what are you waiting for?
Go on, take the plunge and show your partner just how much you care (and have a great holiday at the same time!). Or if, conversely, there's not a Valentine in your life, it's also a pretty darn good excuse just to get away.
Here are some deals we've rounded up. Because they're so last minute, availability is highly subject to change and prices can fluctuate.
Editor's Note: These cruises were available at these prices as of mid-day Friday, February 1. All fares are per person, based on two sharing a cabin.
The cruise: Seven-night southern Mediterranean voyage on Thomson Cruises' Thomson Destiny
How much: From £419 per person
When: February 11
Where: The "Colourful Coasts" itinerary that calls at the Canary Islands and at Agadir, on the Moroccan coast
Anything Else: This deal includes a flight with ThomsonFly from Luton to Madeira (Funchal) and is based on an inside cabin.
The cruise: Ocean Village's Jamaica-based, two-week Caribbean cruise.
How much: Last-minute deals from £911 per person (5 percent discount online)
When: February 12
Where: What better way to feel the romance of the sea than to visit the sun-kissed Caribbean onboard easy-going Ocean Village. The ship starts in Montego Bay, Jamaica and journeys to Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Grand Cayman, Columbia, Panama Canal and Costa Rica.
Anything else: The good news is -- this includes your flight from London, Gatwick.
The cruise: An 11-night trip to Greece, Turkey and Italy on MSC Cruises' MSC Orchestra
How much: From £529 per person
When: February 11
Where: Now the Italians really do know how to do romance, so by picking this Italy-based line you will surely have a Valentine's Day to remember. The ship starts in Genoa and then takes a trip to the Greek destinations of Katakolon, Athens and Rhodes before heading to Turkish hotspots Limassol and Marmaris. The final leg will take you both to Heraklion and Naples before returning to Genoa.
Anything else: This is based on a cruise-only price, so you will need to organise flights to Italy.
