For fans of Cunard, cruise aficionados and the curious masses, the wait is finally over. Cunard's Queen Victoria has arrived in its homeport of Southampton, sailing into berth earlier today.
The 90,000-ton, 2,000-passenger vessel's arrival kicks off a bevy of special events, including the Monday, December 10 christening led by The Duchess of Cornwall; a Victorian-era-themed street fair with waterside entertainment; and a grand send off with fireworks display.
For those not on Cunard's 2,000-plus person guest list, the ceremony will be covered live -- on large screens -- in nearby Mayflower Park.
On Tuesday, Queen Victoria will embark on a 10-night maiden voyage visiting the Christmas markets of Northern Europe.
Cruise Critic will be on hand both for the christening and the ship's inaugural 10-night Christmas markets cruise -- so visit our Queen Victoria launch page for daily updates over the next few weeks.
