| Discovery Cruises Changes Name ... Slightly |
Discovery World Cruises, the one-ship cruise line that operates the soft adventure-oriented Discovery, has altered its name slightly and will now be known as Voyages of Discovery.
The change was made in an effort to alleviate confusion -- the Ft. Lauderdale-based company had been marketing the ship to North American passengers under the Discovery World name. In the U.K. and beyond, the company marketed the ship under the Voyages of Discovery brand name.
The 20,216-ton, 650-passenger Discovery sails to exotic destinations, ranging from Antarctica to North Africa and from Greenland to the Galapagos. Check out our new ship review here.
Voyages of Discovery is getting more than a cohesive name -- the line's growing as well. The 394-passenger Explorer II will join the fleet in 2008; that ship formerly sailed as Swan Hellenic's original Minerva.
