HAL Names Ship Prinsendam

May 16, 2001
Holland America won’t take possession of the Seabourn Sun for another year yet but the line’s already come up with its new moniker: the MS Prinsendam. The 38,000-ton ship will launch next June after a fairly extensive refurbishment to create the usual “Holland America” style, such as Dutch art and influences, not to mention “classic fixtures" like the Explorer's Lounge, Crow's Nest, Java Café, Rotterdam Dining Room and an Italian alternative restaurant. The ship will also have a full spa, Internet center, wrap around promenade deck and the usual -- Lido eatery, pools, bars, library, show lounge and cinema. 40 percent of cabins have verandahs.

The Prinsendam (which means “princes” in Dutch) will travel exotic itineraries from 10 days in length to cruise combinations that can last as-long-as-you-can-afford-to-sail.
