| Comair Strike Update |
Bad news for cruisers booked with Comair: pilots of the Delta-owned airline (whose hub is in Cincinnati) have voted against the latest contract, meaning the airline continues to be grounded. Comair’s pilot strike, which has halted all service from Midwestern-based airline, began in late March.
Other airline “strike” news isn’t so gloomy. Over at Northwest Airlines, where mechanics and cleaners had threatened a walk-out -- so seriously that President Bush had ordered a cooling off period -- employees have agreed to a new contract, which averts a Northwest shutdown. And Delta, as we reported earlier, has come to terms with its pilots, who had also threatened to walk-off-the-job; the official ratification period takes place from May 22 – June 20 but all sides say they are happy with the result.
