It's Official: Royal Caribbean Will Build Two Genesis-Class Ships
Royal Caribbean has exercised its option -- which expired over the weekend -- to build a second in its Genesis-class of ships.

Possibly the most revolutionary ships since Cunard's Queen Mary 2, the 220,000-ton, 5,400-passenger vessels -- whose extraordinary size has led them to be dubbed "behemoth ships" in some quarters -- the Genesis class will boast as-yet-unrevealed features and amenities.

The first ship, the creation of which had already been announced, is due for launch in fall 2009; this second has a delivery date of August 2010. Neither have names at this point. Cost of both is a cool 900 million euros (about $1.2 billion).
