Bessie Kovoloff and Pablo Markelis, an engaged couple from Los Angeles, were onboard to film their major makeover and subsequent wedding for Style Network's "How Do I Look?" -- and just happened to be bunking in the Courtyard Villa suite next to mine.
If you've never seen "How Do I Look?" the premise is simple: Fashion victims are nominated (usually by two friends or family members) for a complete style makeover; the two "accomplices" are joined by third (a celebrity stylist, which varies by episode) -- as well as polished hostess Finola Hughes -- to ridicule and trash offending items of clothing. The three accomplices then shop for haute new outfits and also oversee hair and makeup.
For this special two-hour show, both Bessie and Pablo were on the hot seat for committing crimes against humanity in the form of neon green pants and mismatched polka dots (though the few times I ran into them in the hallway their clothing choices were at worst plain -- nothing as abysmal as what aired on TV).
So what did their accomplices, Bessie's maid of honor and Pablo's cousin, choose as their wedding day attire? We won't spoil it for you. The special airs again on Thursday, December 14 at 6 p.m.; Friday, December 15 at 9 p.m.; and Saturday, December 16 at 12 a.m. and 2 p.m. (EST).
I will say, though, that I thought they looked more amazing in person than they did on television -- I snuck a peek through the Courtyard window at them in their dress and tux on their actual wedding day. In fact, just as the crew was finishing up filming their Courtyard nuptials, I was coming back from my excursion in Kauai during which I donned goggles and drove an open-air 4x4 through massive mud puddles. Needless to say I didn't look too pretty slogging down the hallway back to my cabin.
I'm just grateful I didn't see myself on TV ... and I hope I don't see myself nominated for an upcoming episode!
