Wind Star’s New Itinerary
May 1, 2001
The Bahamas may be one of cruise-dom's top warm-weather destinations but some 99 percent of all passengers -- okay, we may be exaggerating, slightly -- never venture beyond Nassau. Which is why Windstar's just-announced 7-day itinerary to the Bahamas on Wind Surf, which sails out of Fort Lauderdale and stops at places like Salt Cay (if you must get your Nassau fix you can take a tour from there), Green Turtle Cay, Bimini and Half Moon Cay (Holland America's private island) is intriguing. Key West, which has nothing at all to do with the Bahamas but is still a fun port, is the final call. This itinerary, which will be Windstar's "easy to get to and not too exotic" selection for winter 2002 (last year, the Wind Star was based in St. Thomas and cruised around the Virgin Islands, among others), runs weekly in March and early April and then again in December.
