(6:30 p.m.) -- Princess has announced that Crown Princess' next voyage, originally scheduled to depart New York's Brooklyn cruise terminal in Red Hook on July 20, will now set sail on July 22.
Crown Princess suffered a severe list yesterday while at sea and was forced to return to Port Canaveral. According to the cruise line's last statement, 240 passengers were treated for injuries, and the ship incurred superficial interior damage.
A spokeswoman for the line tells us that interior repairs are in progress. "The ship has not been cleared to sail yet but we are confident we will gain clearance in order to make our next departure out of New York on Saturday, July 22." Information on mechanical repairs is not available at this time.
Passengers booked on the July 20 cruise may cancel without cancellation fees; those that choose to sail the abbreviated itinerary calling at Grand Turk and King's Wharf will receive a 50 percent refund, and may submit for reimbursement out-of-pocket expenses incurred due to the change (such as airline change fees). Princess is asking those who need assistance with hotel accommodations to call 800-PRINCESS.
We'll continue to provide updates, so check back often.
