The "hoof & mouth" crisis spreading across Europe is not, at least not yet, impacting cruise line menus. Most of the American-based (note we don’t say "flagged"!) cruise lines say they get their beef and lamb from the U.S., South America, Australia and New Zealand anyway. Even the European-based cruise lines - such as Costa, KD River Cruises, Royal Olympic and First European - are saying they are buying their meat from the same regions. But as we move into Europe’s primary cruise season, it’s clear that “hoof & mouth” is already having - at least a small - impact. Crystal has announced that passengers opting for shore excursions that include meals on its European voyages will be limited to chicken and fish.
