Now that the brand-spanking-new Freedom of the Seas launch is well on its way to its official premiere on June 4, Royal Caribbean is turning its attention back to one of its golden oldies. Fourteen-year old Majesty of the Seas is the next up in Royal Caribbean's "middle age revitalization" program, which has already given a fresh new vibe to ships such as Empress of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas.
The refurbishment will begin on January 12 and will extend to every area of the ship, from the spa and fitness center to lounges to refurbished staterooms (complete with bedding from Royal Caribbean's new program). Additional dining options, such as Johnny Rockets and Sorrento's authentic Italian pizzeria, will be added as well -- and the Windjammer Cafe, along with the Mikado and Maytime dining rooms, will get a redo.
Renovations will be completed in time for Majesty of the Seas to resume its three- and four-night sailings out of Miami to CocoCay and Nassau, Bahamas on February 9. Passengers who are affected by the refurbishment program should contact their travel agent or call
