MSC Names New Ship MSC Poesia

March 20, 2006
MSC Cruises has chosen a name for the new-build it ordered last week and announced at Seatrade -- MSC Poesia (pronounced Po-a-SEE-a). Poesia is the Italian word for poetry.

The ship, slated to launch in March of 2008, will be a sister to the 89,600-ton, 2,500-passenger MSC Musica -- launching this spring -- and the third in the Musica class. Eighty percent of its staterooms will outsides, and 65 percent of the total number of cabins will feature balconies.

This ship brings MSC's total number of vessels on order to five; all are being constructed by France-based Chantiers de l'Antique.
