United States Lines’ Patriot, which - as we reported last week - had to cut short its voyage due to mechanical problems that will cost the line some $1.4 million in refunds – wasn’t the only cruise ship to have, well, a bad couple of days. Festival Cruises’ Mistral, currently cruising in the Caribbean, ran aground last week in Nevis. The ship, which hit a sand bar at about 6:45 a.m., was ultimately re-floated with the help of a couple of tugboats but there was some damage to the hull’s exterior. The good news is the “accident” occurred at such a slow speed (about 7 knots) that it didn’t even wake up the passengers.
Both Patriot and Mistral are back in action this week.
