Celebrity's ConciergeClass concept, in which select standard verandah staterooms are outfitted with a variety of premium/priced extras, has been so successful it will undergo an expansion.
The expansion process will take place in 2005, and Celebrity will more than double the number of staterooms with ConciergeClass status -- from 100 to 228 -- on Millennium, Infinity, Summit and Constellation.
Among the extra touches offered to ConciergeClass passengers include pillow-top mattresses and plush duvets on the beds, special room service breakfast menus, daily afternoon canapes, and bathrooms with extra-thick and super-large bath towels. These folks also get special services, such as early embarkation and debarkation privileges, dining time and seating preferences, and priority on shore excursion wait lists.
One of our favorite extras is the verandah furnishings in these staterooms -- chairs are cushioned and tables are large enough for dining.
A somewhat modified form of ConciergeClass is available on other Celebrity ships, though the expansion does not include them. Aside from Galaxy and Mercury (which offer the extras in 80 cabins with balconies), Century, Zenith and Horizon offer some of the amenities -- though their cabins have no private balconies.
