HAL Launches Customized Shore Excursions
Tired of the same run-of-the-mill shore excursions? Holland America Line -- in an effort to cater to more seasoned, independent travelers -- has announced that passengers on its European cruises can now customize their own shore excursions under the new "Signature Collection" program. The program has been introduced in 46 European ports, with plans to expand it to each of the line's 280 ports worldwide.

The "Signature Collection" program provides travelers with a private vehicle with unlimited mileage, a driver and English-speaking guide. Passengers are free to tailor their shore activities at their own pace, and according to their own interest and tastes. The excursions are available in half-day (four hour) and full-day (eight hour) segments, for groups of two to eight. Prices range from $300 to $3,000, depending on the location, type of vehicle, and length of the excursion.

The "Signature Collection" shore excursion program is an extension of HAL's $225 million "Signature of Excellence" enhancement program launched in 2003.
