A fine cruise but the food was disappointing

Review for a Trans-Ocean Cruise on MSC Sinfonia

After staying 3 months in S. Africa, we chose this 24-day repositioning cruise from Durban to Venice in order to go home to Europe in a relaxed way. This was a first for my wife and me (both seniors) and we enjoyed it tremendously. The service on the whole was very good, cabin and restaurant service outstanding. By and large the food was OK, however several times it was quite disappointing, ...

We arrived at the port at 11:00. There is a free shuttle at the port entrance to the ship. It is possible to walk, but it takes more than 10 minutes (no shadow on the way). Breakfasts 7 days the same types of dishes. With a small change of taste of sweet yogurt or omelette. We sailed with MSC 4 times and 4 times with ROYAL CARRIBIEN. ROYAL CARRIBIEN has a better ...

Had a fabulous week from Venice a couple of weeks ago.

We found the cruise at a very reasonable price to places we have never visited before. Montenegro is breathtaking, shame we were only there for four hours. The staff were pleasant enough but some don't smile often enough. On previous cruises the staff would always greet you with a smile. I always make a point of saying Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening to all staff I see along the way. ...

You get what you pay for

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Poesia

A seriously discounted trip with the plus - for me- of no days at sea. On boarding the ship the only concern was to sell passengers packages - no directions to cabin. Get to right corridor then directed down to Guest Services, considerable queue, at desk told to go to cabin, do so , queue again. Got a handshake from a Frenchman for helping him avoid our mistakes . First stop Bari - well worth a ...

Disappointed with Cruise

Travelling in group of 6. Embarkation at Venice went OK. Appearance of interior of ship was beautiful, plenty of marble and mirrors. Dining in the Restaurant was not enjoyable although the wait staff were good. Menu was average, serving portions small. If you wanted water with your meal, you had to pay for it!! What a joke!! No complimentary coffee or tea either. At times service was slow. Dining ...

A decent cruise but with flaws

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Poesia

My wife and I primarily chose this cruise for the ports and excursions, knowing full well that it got mediocre reviews, since it seemed to be the most cost-effective way to see all the different places that it visited. And from that perspective, it definitely delivered. As for the cruise itself, it wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either. It was the third cruise we've ever been on (the ...

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Lirica

MSC LIRICA May 11-18 I have recently returned from a cruise on the MSC Lirica, sailing from Venice through the Adriatic. Everything I will report is my personal opinion, which I recognize could be quite different from someone else’s take on the same cruise. I am a senior female from the USA and I traveled solo. This was my 30th cruise. As on most cruises, there were pros and cons, but ...

Nice ship but beware of the buffet food

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Musica

I am currently on a cruise on the msc musica out of Venice. Ship is very clean crew smart and friendly, entertainment almost the same each night but good quality. My main complaint is the buffet breakfast. The food is plentiful, looks appetising but is COLD. Trays of fresh food, fried eggs, sausages, bacon, mushrooms etc are brought from the kitchen COLD. They are placed on hot plates to ...

A world-class way to visit 6 cities!

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Lirica

We chose this cruise as we wanted a comfortable and relaxing way to explore a lot of different cities. We have been on the MSC Sinfonia before, and we immediately felt at home on the Lirica, as they are similar. Our cabin was fantastic - we booked with a balcony and got upgraded to the top floor (thank you MSC!) including a lounge and a bath in the bathroom :) We also chose to purchase the "all ...

Poor entertainment, food and service. worst cruising experience of my life. I thought a European (sailed from Venice without even realising we had left, absolutely no atmosphere on board) cruise would be amazing but boy was I wrong! I have cruised many times from Sydney to various destinations but this onboard experience was the absolute worst. Which cruise liner runs out of mugs every ...
