Explore this city of yachts and spinnakers; gardens and galleries; sandstone cottages and stately Georgian homes - a city built on the pain and toil of yesteryear English convicts.
The Tourism office was a short walk from the pier, so we went there and booked a double-decker bus tour around town. We enjoyed it. It was nice hearing the history of old Hobart.
The ship also ported at Burnie, which is not listed under "select a port". We went to an arts and crafts shop selling wares by local artisans, a touristy place, where I was entranced by the papier mache artist's work. I also enjoyed watching the ladies spin yarn with their spinning wheels, and bought a hand-knitted scarf from one of them for my daughter.
