San Diego Safari Park cruise excursion
Overall Rating
With a focus on larger spaces not possible at the San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Zoo Safari Park houses over 2600 animals in its 1,800 acres of free range enclosures.

Very costly! At every premium viewing opportunity, the park charged an extra fee. For example, the butterfly line was extremely long...$12 p/p to go to the front of the line. The opportunity to feed the African animals was a huge premium price. Zip lines, balloon rides, etc. were all a lot of extra money. The tour price with nothing added was $129 p/p. Food is extremely expensive. We adults bought kids' meals for $10 each (HORRIBLE hot dogs, with carrots and animal crackers) and decided not to buy a bottle of water for almost $5. Just really expensive overall! Beautiful park and gorgeous flowers. The butterflies were worth our hour long wait, but not worth an extra $12 p/p.

Outstanding excursion. If you have visited the San Diego Zoo, this is an excellent excursion to take to get the whole animal experience. Our tour guide was excellent. The park is about an hours drive to and from the port, but there is still plenty of time to take in the whole park, but we did miss a couple of shows that were going to take place after our bus had to head back to the park. Overall, this tour was first rate.

The park is okay but really needs to improve their communication. Signage is poor and there is very little information for wheelchair users.
