It is closed. It is always closed. You show up only to buy $8 drinks from trucks in the parking lot.

Great place to visit. The people are wonderful and a great deal of history to be learned....The Safari Jeep Tour was awsome, would recommend it to anyone.

Aruba was very nice, but sadly we were there on New Year's day so everything was closed. This is the perfect spot for the beach as the beaches are gorgeous. However, if you are not a beach-goer be sure to book this port of call during the week, or for a Saturday. Sundays and holidays leave the downtown area rather quite.
The day we went it was 40 degrees C/104 degrees F, so it was too hot to stay on island for very long. We got off the ship around 10h00, took a little excursion, walked downtown and were back on the boat by 12h30. If you like it hot, this place is perfect.

Old non-working lighthouse. Take a few pics then head out.

This is a lighthouse. You could drive by it and yep, seen it. But, instead, this was a 15-minute stop. Surely just to get you to spend money at the food stand and bathroom.

Nice but if you have to use the restrooms in the restaurant, they will charge you twenty-five cents per person

Aruba is not an island that lends itself to bus tours and watching beautiful scenery go by. Similar to Grand Cayman, if you want to enjoy Aruba, you need to get in the water or enjoy something active like hiking or three-wheeling. (Or shopping) The California Lighthouse is picturesque, but skippable. The arid, rocky landscape, dotted with cacti, and the local lizards, goats, and small donkeys appeared to be photographed as much as the lighthouse.
