Tunis (La Goulette) Historic Carthage Excursion Reviews

Home > Member Reviews > Tunis (La Goulette) Shore Excursions > Historic Carthage

Visit the scattered ruins of the ancient and once-powerful city of Carthage, now located in a modern residential neighborhood replete with lush gardens and expensive homes—one of the nicest places to live in Tunisia.

It was interesting but not particularly enthralling. I would definitely suggest a booked tour rather than doing your own thing. Sidi Bou Said was interesting with it's blue and white houses but beware the traders - they are REALLY out to rip off the tourists - even the "MSC preferred" shop! Not the most interesting place we stopped at but I guess a "must" to say you've set foot in north Africa.

Too much religion and politics talk by the tour guide insted of time to explore the site.

It was ok. having been to the Caracalla baths in Rome it was a bit of a let down. Our guide was excellent with his explanations.

Tour was good with interesting guide who knew his stuff. An unexpected highlight - on the way back we visited Hammam Le Pacha at the Goulette Shipping Cruise Village Touristique. Got a great experience with a relaxing lie in the Turkish Bath followed by a back massage - so relaxing. Lovely people on the staff and incredibly cheap. It was the highlight of our whole week!
