Depressing bus tour of a depressed area on the way to the French side. Shopping on our own for about 2 hrs. and then on to a beach that was attached to a nude beach. The water was very rough due to the high winds so we all opted to return to the ship sooner. The drivers English was poor at best, so most of what he said was not understood. We did get to see a band of monkeys on the road and that was fun.

Took a Bay cruise (1hr) along with shopping in Marigot and bus tours of both the Dutch and French side of the islands. Our tour guide was Dutch (very personable) and at times I felt the narrative was slighted more towards the Dutch side. Nonetheless the experience was great, offered some history along with shopping in the Marina on the French side.

Following the tour, we had time to go to Orient Beach which is beautiful. The only issue that I had with this is that we had to pay in legs for our transportation. Overall we paid 40.00 for the 2 of us to go to the beach following the tour. Although there is a defined area for taxis going to different locations those that coordinate this seem to have a lot of confusion going on. Ride prices are by the taxi load..unless you are paying for that driver for you and your brood you will probably be crammed into a van. Remember this is your investment..your vacation and if you don't want to be thrown on top of folks with little to no A\C say no thanks and be willing to pay someone to take you to and from all day. The only downside to the popular beaches are the locals who want to sell you everything 3 times over....but this is a large spot with lots to offer but if you've been here before try a different spot...but you should at least try it once.

This was a nice trip but the driver did not give us any information along the way and did not stop for photos along the way a certain points where we could get some awesome shots of the ship area. Saw part of the island by van and the on a boat with open top and bench seating. Also seating down stairs in shade with bar and restrooms. This was a wonderful trip the boat part was amazing with the scenery along the way. The boat stopped at a restaurant where we ate crepes that were really good, then we shopped a little then caught our bus back. Need to be dropped off in Phillipsburg on the way back to site see and shop not at the port, not much there. If you do not do an excursion take the water taxi over and enjoy the beach there is also a french bakery there that is really good.

We went on an excursion that gave us a tour of the great island and a boat-tour that sunk under the water to see the fish! Great experience!

Rode around in an AC bus with very few stops, then got in a semi-sub and took photos of a driver feeding fish. Would have much rather been snorkeling.
