Another very full day as we saw all the highlights of Rome from the Colosseum to the Vatacan. But they got us back to the ship with time to spare and the whole thing cost about the same as "Rome on Your Own" thru NCL.
We did Best of Rome with ItalyTours.eu. We had only 8 in our group, which made visiting the sites somewhat flexible. We spent three hours at the Vatican with a very knowledgeable tour guide. We also went inside the Colosseum, saw the Pantheon, Trevli fountain, and Circus Maximus. My only complaint was that the Vatican portion of the tour was too long and too detailed. It took away from time at the remaining sites.
Excellent guide but felt too long spent at The Vatican - did we really need to spend so long queuing and inside St Peters Basillica and we were not given the option of not going inside. We did not have much time at the Colosseum and did not go into the Forum at all. It was a very long day but the guide was very considerate of the heat.
Very nice place and like to listen to the orange radio . Nice church but not as nice as Barcelona church . Nice little town best gelato there snicker and oreo were my family and my favourite . The little Italian restaurant was good and so was the white wine they had my parent prefer red wine and I don't .
Took two tours with this wonderful family, first Noemi gave our tour of the Vatican. She was helpful and informative. The net day we had a5 hr. tour with her brother in a comfortable van.He showed us the sites and took us to a couple of his favorite spots. Highly recommend Miles and Miles.
Instead of booking a transfer to Rome from Civitecchia, we booked a tour of Rome with dropoff in the city center (the bus returned to the port). We had to ask for permission to do this; however, it would benefit the cruiseline and the passengers desiring an overview of the city if this were offered. It should be considered an option.
There is too much to see in do in Rome in just one day. Consequently, if you have not been here before, your best bet is to book "Highlights of Rome." You are bussed to most of the major historical sites and then disembark to see such wonders as the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Vatican, the Pantheon, etc.
We booked a trip that was wiseting some of the highlights in Rome. So we went to the vatican, st peters church,Trevi fonten, Colusseum and the ruins. We hade lunsj on a restaurant during the day. The guide were very good, answering questions, telling about Rome and the history. The reasons that we picked this tour was that one of us had been to Rome several times and seen all the big things. And in Rome it is not possible to do it all in one day. So we picked a this tour so it would give a taste of rome.
We took the "Imperial Rome" tour. Be advised that it was intensely physically demanding. Several in our group could not make it and we had to split off. Tour guide was not concerned with coordinating toilette stops during the long walks.
Transportation from port was excellent; included WiFi availability on the van. Had a very informative tour guide Marco. Visited the colosseum, Spanish steps, St. Peter's Square, St. Peter's Basilica, and Sistine Chapel. Had a wonderful tour guide of the Vatican area. Had an amazing lunch at a family restaurant near the Vatican selected by Marco.
