Be aware that the horse-drawn carriage rides are subject to a random lottery of which of three tour areas you receive. This is done to minimize congestion. This was not explained to us and we did not get the area we wished to see. Had I known, I would have gone to the visitors' center and taken a bus tour. Charleston is a lovely city and not to be missed. The crafts market and the saw grass basket weavers are special.

Walked around the very interesting Charleston Markets, before going on a carriage tour pulled by our lovely horse "Big John". Our guide Allison was very informative (despite her youthfulness), and we loved to see the beautiful old houses so lovingly restored and cared for.

Did the carriage ride in Charleston. Amazing houses. Driver gave a good commentary. Also visited the Boone Hall Plantation by taxi, where 'Gone with the Wind' was set. Interesting to see the house, (Tara), and the slave houses in Slave Street, on thne Plantation. Bdearing in mind the quality of the food situatkion on board, we took the opportuning to have dinner the first night in the Crab House, across from the market, and lunch next day at Hymans, near the top end of the market. Both were amazing and we are glad we went.

As stated elsewhere, O's decision to cancel our overnight here really ruined our plans...We've been to Charleston many times before and never tire of it...sooo much to see, do....We were able to reschedule our carriage tour because we arrived a day late...Wonderful one hour tour thru the historic district...highly recommend. We had booked a harbor boat which we also were not able to take since we arrived a day late. The ship conc. tried to call them 5 times to request they allow us to reschedule of provide a refund...They didn't answer the phone nor did they respond to his email. They deny having received calls they didn't answer and they deny having received his email..so I guess I'm out that money.
