Didn't expect this to be such a personal tour but was brilliant. Had a fantastic tour guide Geoff who took us in his own 4WD and he was quite crazy and fun. I appreciated being in his vehicle as the other 2 4WD's had tourists sitting on a side bench in back of vehicle whereas we just sat facing front as you would in a normal vehicle. I have issues with my neck and I would never have been able to go up and down that rocky countryside sideways and the views would have been horrible having to look through other people to see out. We had quite a few stops along the way, saw a deer farm, a castle, two photo opportunities at lookouts 300 and 500 metres above sea level. Grabbed some myrtle leaves for our cups of tea and muffins we had later on for morning tea on the beach and the best thing of all got to see at least a dozen seals. Geoff said that wasn't many for that time of day or year but we were very impressed. Got a lot closer than we thought we would have but they are very hard to find at first. Had a crazy fly along the beach in Geoff's 4WD on return in and out of water holes and couldn't have asked for a better trip.

We did the Wind farm and Seals tour – this is totally worth doing… it doesn’t sound anywhere near as cool as it was… I strongly recommend it… great way to see Wellington, some incredible hills and vistas, get right into an amazing engineering spectacle and very close to some wild seals (well not too close, but close enough!).

This is a great adventure if you like wonderful scenery and animals. A 4x4 jeep took small groups through the Wellington neighborhoods and up the hills surrounding Wellington. We traversed winding and steep dirt roads on our way to the coast where seals were playing and sunning themselves. The beautiful rugged coast where your jeep made it own road was exciting and fun. This is not a tour for those that are afraid of heights or can not manage rough 4 wheel driving. We were able to walk within a few feet of the wild seals and take pictures. Finally we were treated to tea made from natural plants we picked on the way to the coast. This was a great tour to see the rugged coast and the city of Wellington.
