This was part of our Scenic St George's Tour. Nice area to explore and the history is all around you. This area was the first capitol of the Island and dates back to 1612. Nice church and shops to walk through in town, the ferry ride over took around 45 minutes. We also had time to explore a lighthouse and Ft St Catherine on this excursion. It was just 4 of us and the taxi driver. He would stop if we wanted pictures and answered all of our questions. We even worked out a deal with him to take us over to Hamilton after the tour so we would not have to take a ferry back to the dockyard and then wait for another ferry to Hamilton.

We took the ferry to St George's. An all day pass will cost you $15 but includes an unlimited day of ferry and bus transit. It was a 45 minute sail from King's Wharf to St George's. We walked toward the main part of town where we were greeted by an energetic local advertising a local tour. For $5 we got to see some of the old sights of town and get a good history. Well worth it and it dropped us back in town in time to see the reenacting of a town's woman being publicly punished for gossiping. Be sure to see this for a good laugh. The main part of St George's is close to Tobacco Bay which is a nice beach/swimming spot when on that part of the island. It is walking distance.

Upon arriving in St. Georges I went to the tourist information center and there was offered a walking tour. I found the tour very interesting and informative. It took 1 1/2 hrs. and ended at the world heritage center.I would definitely recommend taking this walking tour if you are interested in the history of St. Georges.

Beautiful! Its a shame cruise ships dont dock here anymore and the true culture of Bermuda is being missed by people opting for Hamilton.
