Hilo Akaka Falls Excursion Reviews

Nut store - can get the same nuts in the midwest for less. Same brand. County zoo - animals sick, o.k.. at best between rain showers Falls was mostly rain filled. Dangerous steps were discouraged by driver-guide.

On the dock we chose a waterfall tour with Authentic Hawaiian Adventures. We waited until the guide found enough people (7 total) to begin the tour. The 15 passenger bus was more than adequate for our little group but still allowed for an intimate tour. The guide, Kamaki, was very knowledgeable about Hawaii's history, geography, and vegetation. We stopped at the Liliuokalani Gardens that are near the cruise port, then made the scenic trip to Akaka Falls. Leaving the falls we stopped at a roadside fruit stand to sample fresh coconut and tropical fruits. We then stopped at a pastry shop for some lunchtime snacks. Back on the bus we continued to the Rainbow Falls in Hilo.

I enjoyed the tour, but since we had several stops, I don't think we were given enough time at each one. I would have liked to linger a bit longer to take pictures.

Very dissapointed that Bengal Tiger had his day off on our visit.Main reason we booked this excursion.However nice to see Hawaii and our Tour Guide John was Excellent.

Some beautiful scenery, but felt the tour was rather overpriced for what we did.
