A beautiful building with a dark history, the Palacio de la Inquisicion now houses a museum with an array of attractions from throughout Colombia's history, from pre-Colombian pottery to Inquisition-era torture instruments and beyond.

Interesting but has our guide said, "maybe the inquisition was a bad idea."

We just walked by this on our walking tour. It was across the street from the beautiful Bolivar park.

We walked through the streets with our guide. People we were with said that the neighborhood was very reminiscent of New Orleans, with lovely balconies, often filled with flowers. Cobblestone streets, small picturesque alleys and bustling people, fruit carts and vendors everywhere.
The palace had many interesting museum-like displays. The upstairs exhibits were air conditioned.
The replicas of the instruments of torture were a bit disturbing, as was the courtyard with the guillotine and viewing balconies, but the history was fascinating.

Part of a deluxe package to visit the castle fort, inquicision palace, and tour of the city.
Being in Colombia itself was a treat and the locals were very nice (non merchants), saying 'welcome to our country', 'enjoy your stay' (we speak spanish).
This part of the tour was around 30 minutes, I did enjoy the history aspect and seeing the devices, but it was very packed and we had to breeze through some exhibits to make room for other tours.

Lee Miles does custom tours. You choose what you want. Our group even changed our tour and timing mid-tour. It was fantastic. Our guide, Rinaldo was fantastic. He took us to all of the places in Cartagena.
