We hired a car and drove to Wai o tapu to see the champagne lake. It was a great trip and I'm glad we did this. It was a difficult destination because there was a lot to do and many choices. Hiring a car was a good choice. We wanted to see Hobbiton too but just didn't want to hurry too much. It was a really hot day so we ended up not going to any of the hot water spas at Rotorua. We did a tour on our own through Viator. It would have been great if one couple had bothered to get off the ship in time to leave the port at the assigned time. I think they were waiting for someone to personally invite them to leave the ship. Our driver made the other 12 of us sit around and wait an hour for them. I will take that up with Viator. It cut the tour short for the rest of us. ...
